Located at 6518 Blevins Gap Road in the Pleasure Valley / Valley Station area of Louisville, VFW Post 1181 serves as a welcoming gathering space for veterans and their families. Chartered in 1964, the post focuses on community fellowship, veteran support services, and local outreach programs. With a vibrant calendar of events—from live music and community fundraisers to recruiting drives and veteran assistance initiatives—Post 1181 continues its mission of honor, service, and camaraderie right in the heart of Southwest Louisville. The times may change, the threats may become more obscure, the complex nature of 21st century life may make the demand for such presence less obvious. As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

At VFW Post 1181, our mission remains rooted in service—to our veterans, their families, and our community. We believe that every veteran deserves support, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose after service. Over the past few months, our Post has been actively engaged in outreach efforts, from supporting local scouting units and organizing community events, to assisting veterans in need and strengthening ties with local organizations. These efforts are more than just activities—they’re part of a larger commitment to ensure that our Post is a pillar of support and purpose in Valley Station. Together, we continue to honor our oath by serving those who served and building a stronger community for all.
